Modified nanoparticles of Prussian Blue metal organic frameworks
Prussian Blue compounds (PBC), e.g. soluble AFe3+[Fe2+(CN)6]·xH2O (A = K, Na, NH4), have shown a huge potantial of applications in physics, chemistry, medicine and radioecology, e.g., PBC acting as efficient ion exchanger extracting the radioistope 137Cs in solutions. For potassium, proposed ferromagnetism by superexchange is discussed between Fe(III) with S=5/2 and an effective magnetic moment of µeff≈5.98µB consistent with a spin-only value of Fe(III) high-spin. Powder neutron diffraction studies showed a Curie temperature TC≈5.6 K consistent with susceptibility measurements. Here, we are presenting the synthesis and low-energy investigation of modified magnetic Prussion-blue nanoparticles protected by PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidene).
