RUSITEC, CCN, sodiumsulfate, lipid metabolism. - The influence of sodiumsulfate on the in-vitro-fermentation of the bovine rumen contents was investigated in special consideration of the thiamine metabolism using the long-term rumen simulation system (RUSITEC). Five investigation-periods (25 days each) were carried out. After the first six days of the trial, a three day controlphase followed. During the next five days 400 mg sodiumsulfate were added to two vessels (testphase I). In the subsequent five days (testphase II) all reaction vessels were substituted with 0,3 mg thiamine daily; the sodiumsulfate dose was continued.
