This inner ear prosthesis replaces the function of the damaged hair cells by direct electrical stimulation of the auditory nerve. Thereby the transmission quality of the electrical intracochlear information depends on the spatial and temporal resolution. A good temporal resolution can be achieved by using a high stimulus rate.
