A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

It is a great pleasure to introduce to you the first Newsletter of the European Veterinary Libraries group.

I want to congratulate the editorial team on their first achievement, and I hope if will be the start of a long series.

After the establishment of the EVLG in 1993, a number of promising were developed, and a first draft of a directory was produced In front of US lie two important international conference, Coimbra 1996 and Copenhagen in 1997. The implementation of a European Union List of Veterinary Serials - printed and/or in machine-readable form - is a project undertaken by members of the group, which alone will! justify its existence and will! be a token of co-operation inside "veterinary" Europe If a form of guaranteed document delivery system could grow out of if, the Union List will be of even greater value, and a token of co-operation inside "library" Europe

This first Newsletter is a Sign that there is enough power and enthusiasm in our ranks to make things work

Let us continue...
